j30fos - 17/1/08 at 07:32 PM

Well its all started, the engine got trial fitted today. Thought Id share some pics with you, theres no section on this forum for westfield or other 7's so I stuck it in here

the old engine was a £8500 750cc mistral suzuki engine, the previous owner removed it before I brought it, no way could I afford to repair such an expensive engine.

Contacted Maptun today to get some info on what they could do for me, they had loads of ideas, my main problem is keeping the tourque down as this car should only weigh 600 kgs. Hopefully have it done this summer

Quick everyone look. BEC to CEC I don't think I've ever seen it before

NeilP - 17/1/08 at 07:40 PM

That is one huw-yawge motor! Good on you sir!

Drop a U2U to ChrisW and get him to do a Westy folder...

j30fos - 17/1/08 at 07:53 PM

Ive had an r1 indy, blade westy, 2x busa westy a vx westy and now im going for a saab powered, aiming for 300 BHP+ these engines are good for 500 bhp with no internal work needed.

I know looked everywhere for BEC to CEC but nothing The bellhousing needed to be altered to make fit, cant thank Joe enough, the work so far looks great.

really looking forward to driving this.

cidersurfer - 17/1/08 at 08:19 PM

I've competed against that one! ERG! Previously owned by a mad professor!
A very competitive car too...

j30fos - 17/1/08 at 08:25 PM

;-) I thought it would raise an eyebrow or two when he dropped the car off he said there would be a few people happy to see it go as it did pretty well in 2007

graham is a nice guy, really looked after the car and the spec is spot on 7.5 cossy LSD diff, brembo 4 pots, front and rear anti roll bars, image wheels etc etc. I just hope I do the car justice and not make a balls up of it

cidersurfer - 17/1/08 at 08:44 PM

He's not so nice when he's walking around the paddock in his underwear! He does tend to do other things properly though. Nice car, keep us informed of the progress...

what a thought

worX - 18/1/08 at 12:21 AM

That looks really good mate!
I wasn't expecting to see update pics as when i spoke to Joe he could hardly breathe/talk let alone fit an engine as big as that in a hole as small as that (). The lad's done you proud!!!

Steve

he said he was totally knackered, looking forward putting his blade turbo next to this, both should go well ;-)

welderman - 18/1/08 at 10:12 AM

Looking good, feeling crap .
Chest infection really took its toll, but thought id better get some work done on Johns car.

j30fos - 18/1/08 at 10:48 AM

I do appreciated it mate, I might even take you out in it

spoke to the guys at Maptun yesterday, there reply was

We can put the torque down to the leverl you want, no problem,
We need to make a speed signal to the ECU to be able to reduce torque on 1st and 2nd gear.
If you cannot make it, there is some other ways so you can reduce torque.

400 Hp is no no problem at all.
It is more question how much torque you would like to have.

We can play with camchafts to be able to move amximum power up in rpm range.

so it looks like there gonna be useful

their standard power quotes for 400 bhp is

rpm Hp Nm
2000 60 210.6525
2500 100 280.87
3500 210 421.305
4200 252 421.305
5063 306 424.3838633
5750 350 427.4108696
6000 370 433.0079167
6500 400 432.1076923
7000 395 396.2273214

way to many torques lol

j30fos - 25/2/08 at 10:06 PM

Well got the ECU delivered from Maptun in sweden, I've gone for 285 bhp and 356 nm torque, so it should be lively ;-)

To get that BHP on the original turbo Ive had to get an uprated actuator, a nice shiny forge jobby, looks very nice.

neilj37 - 2/4/08 at 04:09 PM

Those saab engines are pretty tunable. A friend has a 9-3 aero which he has had tuned to around 400bhp. It is fast and pulls really well in any gear. Surprised nobody has thought of this before.
