My weekends work
locoboy - 30/3/08 at 03:20 PM

Not entirely true as it has taken me on and off 3 days to do the brickwork lol

Some of you may remember i was looking for advice on where to buy a BBQ firebox and grill to use in a self built brick BBQ.

Thanks for the suggestions but i decided to 'locost' it and make it myself.

I have never done any brickwork before and some of you that have may be able to tell that it was my first attemt but im quite proud of how it has turned out.

And here is the grill and box, the 3mm sheet steel was out of the skip at work, the 8mm round bar was from a friend of a friend for a couple of beers and the most exhorbitant bit of are the vents on the front which cost £4.

Inc Gas and wire it probably owes me about £15 and is much nicer (IMHO) than the more expensive versions available on line and from B&Q etc, its also a damn sight sturdier too, i can stand on it without it so much as flexing lol

who's for a burger..............

Oh dont mention the brick towards the top right in the last picture, i ran out of sand and had one brick left to lay , it will get laid this week after work one night.

roadrunner - 30/3/08 at 07:08 PM

I would'nt give up your day job if it took you three days.
Nice one.

locoboy - 30/3/08 at 08:22 PM

I said on and off!

If it came down to how fast it takes to build / upgrade most of our cars, I guess none of us should give up our day jobs

worX - 30/3/08 at 11:20 PM

Well I said "WE" meaning me and the dog, not me and the missus, so I could answer "BOTH"

Although, my Dog's a "DOG" and I get the impression your dog's a "DOG" too, so maybe tha'ts a no-no!!!!

Still I'm well up for a chilly BBQ and reminisce over old times at Uni!!!

Mines a bitch and a very scaredy gay bitch at that, she is fine once she has met another dog and got used to it for a while.

But if even the tiniest dog came over to her tail wagging wanting to play she would run off yelping and being totally crap!

feel free to pop down anytime, although your dog wont go in the mac 1 will it!

02GF74 - 1/4/08 at 11:08 AM

are the bricks tied to the wall?

locoboy - 1/4/08 at 04:34 PM

Yes, every 2nd course, they are missaligned with the courses on the big wall so i drilled and put a rawl plug and a 4inch screw in and then ground the head off it!

Should be ample even for me to lean against it in an alcohol induced state!

That's what we call "rustic", nicely done there Col. It wants, using now to take the newness off the brickwork, get some fat stains down it
