Time has come to get my car ready for it's new engine and as such, I have to remove the year or so old fuel. Getting it out is no problem, just switch her on, and let it pump itself dry. But what do I then do with the old fuel? I'd rather not just set it on fire in a bucket, but I'm not overly adverse to this idea!
lawn mower or parts washing
are you mad?? any idea how much petrol costs?? ????
how mcuh fuel? what is wrong with it?
decant the top so that any water is left behind, then filter it, then mix it in with other petrol and drive on it.
It's maybe 3 or 4 litres, been sat in a vented tank for roughly a year, so will now be less than effective in a blackbird engine. Although I might well try the lawnmower on it.
Just bung it in your tintop and top up with fresh fuel - you'll be fine.
what about petrol with fuel additive in it (so it can't be used in a tin top?)

mix of the 3: lawnmower, fire starter and mixed into tin top.
put it through the letter box of the old lady next door that copmplains about the noise
My Cobra stood for 3 years and then started first try once the spark plugs where installed after getting oil pressure up - if 3 year old petrol is ok
then 1 or 2 year old will be fine
Just add a few liters of fresh fuel to the old to restore some of the volatiles if your car is a hard starter.
yeap, i'd mix with fresh fuel over time.

Petrol that has been stored too long develops a "sour" smell.
The main problem with old fuel is if you've filled up in the summer on hot mix and you try and start your car in the depths of winter when the stations switch over to the winter mix..... You might then have problems with starting...
I wondered where my mother-in-law moved to.

If you really want to get rid of it and have nothing else to use it in just pour it into a shallow container and leave it outside - petrol evaporates pretty quickly. Just remember not to smoke nearby
Reminds me of an incident last year - I have a neighbour who isn't allowed to smoke indoors so, if he hears me playing in my garage, will wander
out for a natter. No problem normally.
One day I was draining my petrol tank into one of those open trays used for draining engine oil, and I had about a gallon sitting in this open plastic
tray, when he turned up with a light ciggy in his mouth...
pmsl..... i'm keeping the fire service busy now....
in fairness i didnt suggest any form of ignition
