latest kit car magazine

Morning all

Hopefully someone here can help. Just bought the latest kit car magazine with the blitz off roader on the cover.

On page 8 there is a small photo at the bottom of the page of a black and orange car with full roll cage.

What is it? is it a kit car and if so what make and model?

Someone here is bound to know.

Looks like a UVA Fugitive, but I don't remember them being bodied???

there was one version which had huge vented side pods and a V8 in it, not to sure how it sold as it must have been a pig to drive

Looked at the MEV rocket but don't really like the looks.

Yes there is a company in the states that can import 'sand rails' but as for the bodywork you may have to make your own. I have asked before in this country and all I got was that the SVA killed them off though in reality there is no reason for one not to pass, I think they just gave up.

One point is they are all VW Beetle based.

Look up sand rails, & dune buggys and you'll see what their like.

The UVA F33 was mid engined and quite well engineered, and I don't remember anyone commenting at the time that there were any driving difficulties.

The reason it didn't sell well was the pricing policy of UVA. Think of a number and double it, then add a nought then double it again (that sort of thing)

I'd be tempted to have a go at one of the knockdown kits, if it could be adapted to take something other than beetle bits.

Nothing against beetles by the way, in their context, which passed into history decades ago.
