50mpg spanish 7??
tweek - 7/8/08 at 11:20 PM

Spotted this, looked very interesting. I really like what they've done, gullwing doors, rear diffuser, ali chassis, 400bhp - all very nice. Damn shame about the front lights though - man they is ugly! and then theres the price....

110 grand

Interesting but as mentioned, fugly lights

Interesting but anyone with that much to spend on a car isn't going to be impressed with 50mpg anyway. Also as said it's fugly and I think they've forgotten to add it's a diesel.

I love the looks but hate the lights.

The lights match the rest of it; awful

bit of a tarts handbag tbh, totally misses the entire point of a 7 by miles. A bit naff really.

...."driver adjustable ABS, PAS, traction and stability via a built in touchscreen"

What's wrong with intuition, pedal and wheel control, steering feel and a bit of "seat-of-the-pants" then?

Out of interest, how does 75kg for the chasis compare to an average tubular steel chasis?

heavy

istr chris mason quoted 60kg for an indy chassis with standard roll hoop. while the indy chassis is missing a few tubes, it does have steel footwells and the diff plates and irs bits.

i wouldn't give 5grand for one.

50 MPG if you drive it as if it had 50 BHP. Use all 400 and that will come right down.

Rod Ends - 8/8/08 at 04:44 PM

Saw it at the excel motorshow - definitely not worth £110k.

Yeah, but that's the point. How much of the time do you actually spend (on the road) with your foot buried in the carpet, when stuck in a line of traffic, that for the most part is becoming more and more pointless to overtake knowing you have another donkey that's going to hold you up less than 100 yds further down the road.

I'm hoping toy car will do better than 50mpg even with the twin turbos, V8 etc etc. BUT, when I floor it, things will get exiting. It'll mean I can do more than 100 miles on a tank of unleaded.

I've just been to Suffolk in the Espace diesel and made a point of being dull with the speeds. I averaged 42mpg (knocked down by jams!!!), which I thought was quite good, but (as I don't have an instant consumption display) did some quick calcs over 1/10 gallon used, and my best - over 61mpg on 4 separate occasions! And no, I didn't pick any particular bit of road.

I didn't look to hard at o/p's link as afaic, it's just another overpriced 7 clone, that does away with the fun bit.

It looks like a Chrysler concept car

tweek - 9/8/08 at 06:31 PM

just thought it was quite interesting in terms of styling and tech, yes its ridiculously priced but it surely has some merit for making the seven design more usable (ie. roof and doors) and aerodynamic/stylish? (excluding the lights obviously) A basis for ideas of our own maybe?

Strange that they priced themselves out of most markets, it doesn't look nearly special enough to be considered alongside ferraris, lambos and aston martins. If they had done the same thing without the crazy expensive tech and sold it for £30 - 40k they could have worried caterham. Instead, no one will buy it.
