Hammerite or Plasti kote spray cans?
I have taken so long to make the car that the wishbones i painted with hammerite have started to look a little tatty and so want to key them in and
spray them again. What should i use. Ive been looking at these two. Opinions please?

I wouldnt use hammerite again youve just got to look at it and it chips off.

So Plasiti Kote or something else? I did think about getting them powder coate3d as well.
Plasti-kote spary paint prberably wont be much better than the hamerite to be honest...Nice cosmetic finish though..
Frost do a product called "chassis black" Its a bit like hamerite but dries much thicker and stays almost slightly tacky...like
rubber...might last a little bit longer!

I have to say I quite like Plasti-kote. It certainly seems more durable than hammerite. I also prefer the plastikote finish as it looks a bit more
like powder-coat than hammerite. It certainly seems to last pretty well especially on acid-etched surfaces. I sprayed my headlight extension mounts
with acid-etch (U-pol) and plasti-kote and despite being in the line of fire on the front of the car I've not had any chipping or flaking
yet.....
I wouldn't personally use any of the gloopier tacky paints for wishbones. For one thing they'll pick up fluff and dust and you'll end
up with a fluffy wishbone.
Have you considered getting one of the DIY powder coating rigs? A wishbone would fit nicely in a domestic oven

specifically for powder-coating....
Other than that Plastikote gets my vote....
Hammerite is rubbish compared to what it was 20 years ago.
Nostalgia ain't what it used to be either 
The wife would love the smel of roasting powder coat floating through the house

So is it okay to rub them down and then spray Plasti Kote on then?

Never heard of that, POR 15, will they know what im on about if go into a store and ask for it?

I bought some stuff in Wickes of all places, it looks like smooth Hammerite, but you can wash the brush out in water.
It's cheap, too, something like £10 for the same size tin as costs approx £17 of Hammerite
Seems to work OK, but no long term results yet

I think all of the previous replies need to be tempered with the fact that if you only key the existing Hammerite finish you will still have a
Hammerite to metal bond on your components.

I used POR15 on the engine and gearbox 4 years ago, no sign of it coming off anywhere.
