Europe's smallest headlights
smart51 - 15/8/08 at 07:25 AM

Total Kit Car . Com are reporting that SVC is finally stocking the Hella 95mm diameter headlights that have main and dipped beam in the same housing. These are fully e marked and SVA approved.

This comes not that long after me phoning them to see if they could get some for me. They said no. A couple of weeks later I bought separate dipped beam and main + side lights of the same size from the same range.

Anyone want a set of these? Brand new? Lovely condition? And I'll get the ones I really wanted that they said they wouldn't get! Grrr

Give them a ring if they told you that and now they have them they may take them back and axchange. Worth a try.

they're exactly what i need! i thought they'd never put both in one. £90 a pair, and needing 2 pairs was a bit extreme

Theres no beam pattern on them though, so MOT and SVA would be a major head ache.

I looked at them at P'boro last weekend.

There is! The beam cut off is the other side of the lens. You can see it if you take the bulb out and look through the hole. The beam they project is much sharper than lamps with a frenzel lens cast into the glass or silver back thing.

Youve seen them running?

If not, I would imagine the beam pattern is created from the reflector rather than any prism. Much like most modern car headlights. just alot smaller!

This is where I get all confudlled with my lights.

Are these the only white lights I need at the front, or do I also need position lights?

blakep82 - 15/8/08 at 05:33 PM

i think you'd probably need a side light too.
LED maybe

smart51 - 15/8/08 at 06:19 PM

You need a side light and some indicators.

blakep82 - 20/9/08 at 05:54 PM

why are these lights still not on svc's website? - EDIT: they are now. and a lot more expensive than they origianlly quoted

anyone know if they're able to switch between left hand and right hand dip?

I don't know about these but I do have a set of the dipped beam only lights. The front part of the light, which houses the cut off, is bolted onto the rear part which fastens to your car. The bolts go through slots which are long enough that if you loosen them, you can rotate the front part so that the kick up is on the other side. I would guess that the combined side / main beam lights are the same but I'd look first.

thats what i thought. do headlights have to be E marked? i didn't think they do, as long as they're fit for purpose of something?

supposing i was to get a pair from america...?
