make the order hand over the cash when you collect the kit.

rayward - 27/8/08 at 09:47 PM

make the order hand over the cash if you ever get to collect the kit.

seriousely do a big search on here before making any decisions

go to 3ge components they will provide you a built high quality haynes roadster chassis for £700 and the deal is that it actually turns up on time no hastle no worries.
go to http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/index.php and search for gts.

all i can say is why risk your hard earned

As a general guide I would suggest visiting any manufacturer that you are interested in (if you can find them!) before placing an order, and only hand over money when you collect your goods.

Also have a search on here for other builders experiences to see how their reputation holds up.

Failing that pay by credit card so that if it goes wrong, you have some protection.

Cheers

Mark

Aside from the stupid answers, mostly from people who havent dealt with GTS at all, heres what I did, and would do with any manufacturer.

Make a small cash deposit, say £200, then pay the balance on collecting the kit. Mine was ready before I wanted and and I had no problems.

Others have had problems, some of their own making.

i ordered parts and paid with paypal there and then, never arrived, darren told me i'd have to pay more money for him to send them, i told him i wanted my money back then, he said its not his policy to refund money. i said you've not provided the service i paid for, i don't want the parts, just my money back. he outright refused.

so, tell me if thats a stupid answer?

chris_harris_ - 28/8/08 at 07:37 AM

I ordered parts from Darren and waited months (no exageration) for them to arrive, when they did the welding on one item was so poor i ground it back and re did it myself!
Obviously some people have had good experiences with GTS, and as mentioned the subject has been covered MANY times before.
Personally, never again, there's far better people out there to deal with !!

Paul TigerB6 - 28/8/08 at 08:24 AM

Clearly David has had a good experience with them but it seems there are plenty who havent and there is generally no smoke without fire. I have never dealt with them myself, but a mate of mine has - and his experience was enough to put me off GTS for life (even though its nowhere near as bad as many). He ordered a pair of seats off ebay which took 14 weeks to arrive - just plain old black fibreglass seats!!! Numerous phone calls went unanswered as did many email messages.

As before Eddie, are you willing to take the risk?? Go and visit them first - at least you can get to meet them and if they are close to you so you can collect all your parts then you should be in a better position if things go wrong on delivery (especially if you are 6ft 6"!!! )

It would also appear that he doesn't answer the phone unless it has callerID. All I can say is that some people get to talk to him and others don't.

If you're having trouble contacting him, they borrow a mates phone.
