Any owner drivers in the NE? My boy, bless 'Im, (more toys!) has just bought a kart. There are half a doz of us in the area doing kart "trackdays" at either Teesside or Warden Law.
It's a really cheap day, W/Law is £25 and Teesside £20 for the whole day. Kart uses a miserly gallon or so of fuel.

We're sticking to the lower powered machines, either twin engined Prokarts or World formula single engined jobbies. So far we have three of each in our little group. They can be picked up for around £500 to £800. Ours was £675, with two sets of tyres, wets and slicks, plus a stand.

...that's me stuttering round in the wet at the start, it later dried out, and the speeds crept up a bit.

So, any more karters out there?

Ooo, wouldn't mind a go meself. Giz a shout the next time you go to Warden Law, its in my back garden I'll pop along and wave you on.

I once saw two guys on identical honda karts, both dead slow but they were having a right laugh with super close racing.

I think that sounds a great idea though, a few of you with identical karts so its down to good drivrs rather than anything else.

Takes me back, I spent 6 years racing both world formula, twin honda's and then the 250cc Bilands at Warden Law and Teeside.
After retiring from karting the kit car was the nearest thing to replacing all that fun, still miss the competion though.

If you need any help let me know, I did manage a few trophys along the way so it won't be bull****... lol...

This is a great forum for help and advice, also the search function will be helpful for old posts and tech stuff.

Sounds like you did the right thing, keep an eye out for any axle movement aswell, they can slip in the bearings and the disc will bind up.

Karting trackdays!

Now thats what im talking about! When the indy and the house is finnished then im thinking about doing this.

Five or six of us will be at Teesside tomorrow. (Sunday) Weather forecast not looking too bad..
Have made up a camera mount, to see if we can get any on board footage. Not sure if it'll work, there could be too much vibration. We'll see!

I was wet wet wet! Great fun, but just a bit on the cold side when soaked to the skin!

Been thinking about buying one but there are so many different types! I have seen those twin engine ones which are powered by some sort of lawnmower engines and the single engines ones.
Now i have found ones called "Shifter karts" which seem to be really quick!

I really want one of those but i bet they cost a few quid!

How fast are the twin engined ones? What are the engines like?
Where do i start looking for engines/chassis?

Oh dear it allready making my head hurt!

Anyone used any other engines? Ie not 1000cc CBR's lol!

Oh yeh dont tell the other half as she will go nuts!!

Teeside today. Started damp, dried out completely, and ended the day in a downpour under floodlights!





...and, had a go mounting the camcorder to the kart. Not a complete success, but I reckon if we turn off the autofocus next time, it could work better..
