.... to use this as the donor?
yes, you've counted that right, 6 cylinders.
Has anyone crashed one yet?
Certainly the best thing that could be done to such a hideous looking contraption
what is it?
oh dear, hairdryer with an auto box... how wrong is that
not yet, due to go on sale in 2009.

Ta
from Wikipedia
"1100cc transverse narrow-bore 24-valve inline-6 engine"
"180 BHP"
"three-quarters of an inch narrower than a hayabusa engine"
"above 100 lb-ft [136Nm] of torque from just above idle all the way to redline"
the transmission seems to be an automated manual, so that you can use the foot peg or use the buttons on the handlebar. If so, it sounds much better
than an old clunky mechanical gear shift.
from MCnews
"Just 25mm wider across the crankcase than the flagship 1000cc four-cylinder, the 1100cc six-cylinder powerplant can reportedly produce around
200bhp with incredibly smooth power delivery"
"Suzuki has adopted an auto-shift mechanism for the Stratosphere's gearbox, but has kept a manual clutch control to give riders the
option."
"During rides in automatic operation, the system shifts to manual control whenever the clutch lever is operated, allowing detailed manual clutch
control. "

Without giving too much away about my age, I did think it had a hint of the old Katana about it before I clicked the link. I think it was mainly the silver / orange but I do also remember the fairing shape under the headlamp.
There have been bike 6 cylinders before, Z1300 Kawak, Bennelli Sei & the Honda CBX are the ones I know off
^^^ yep; also honda goldwing flat 6 appearing in a number of models.
pretty sure I rememebr reading about a honda 6 cyl 125 cc race engine with about 20 gears raced in the late 60s.
hmm, googling seems to indicate it was only 5 cylinders.
they did do 249 cc six cylinder engines!
