I'll go have a look in the front of my "Italian Job" with a tape measure......
Cheers mate
The Mini I have brought has new panels so I dont want to take them off!!! I may have to remove a bit of the bulkhead to make sure she goes in. Gotta
cut a tunnel for the prop next
O
An R1 will fit in the front without a flip or extended front when configured for FWD

Cheers Iank. My only prob is I am turning the engine 90 degrees (locost stylee) so I need to know the old dimensions to check against my engine

Yeah, but I'd posted before you'd posted that.
Don't see why it shouldn't fit to be honest, if you're making a tunnel, you have a lot of latitude on where to put things.
There is approximately 450mm depth to the opening, a bit more lower down but you would have to chop the subrame at the back for the propshaft anyway

Or make my own front subframe
I was pleasantly surprised at the condition of my Mini - I have had it under a fitted cover in a lean-to shed for the last 4 years. It does not look
any worse than when I put it away - I expected a little pile of rust which would crumble when I took off the cover
Although I do know that it will
need a few panels replaced if I ever want to go on the Italian Job again.
Nice one!!!!
BTW you got any recent pics of your current project? I would love to see them.
O
My spaceframed Mini project is lying under a cover on my trailer, there is now a FF1600 in the garage awaiting a ZX10 engine transplant.
Actually manage to do some work to it this week - got the old Renault engine/transaxle out of the chassis. - Anyone fancy this unit for a middy?
hi, i do not mean to hijack your thread but i was wondering how much did you pay for your old mini? what is teh going rate type off thing?
thanks
stuart
No worries mate
I paid £900 complete. It has NO rust and the whole front has been replaced, plus the front and rear have been de-seemed (bumpers). It just needs
primer and paint
I will be selling off the engine etc... Plus it has Cobra Seats with the correct seat frames, a set of wheels and brand new tyres
that I don't want so they will also be going along with the new rear sub frame

thanks, as i am still looking for one, but one which needs work doing on it, what to pratice bodywork.lol, as well i want to put a flip front on so
not worried about the front end.
good luck with your bike engine mini.
thanks again
stuart
I know of one that is a SHELL ONLY and it already has a flip front (bolted on) available for £150! I does need a bit of welding but not too much.
O
You will also find some cheap ones that need work here
