Scooter

Just got back from Costa del Sol and apart from the constant blue skies and 35 degrees temperature I was amazed at the way scooters with perfomance exhausts beat me off the line.
OK I had a Zafira 1.9 diesel motor but as soon as the light hit green, (no amber) woosh, off they go. I was totally amazed at one guy (about 14) who hoisted the front wheel up and wheelied away into the distance on the back wheel!

Me being an old 2 stroke fan wants one now!

a ring tin tin.....

you can get 500 and 600cc scooters now. Not as fast as a 500cc bike, cause they only rev to 8000 or so but they make most things on 4 wheels look slow.

They'll only last about 6 months though They have a barrel, piston, exhaust and centrifugal clutch mod to get them to perform really well but the lifespan is seriously reduced if they are used in anger all the time.

All the new big scooters have 4 strokes engines that are CRAP. Nothing, I say it again NOTHING whacks a 2 stroke engine for noise and glammer. Anyway thats me, dont get confused , the Trabant is not in my 2 stroke hall of fame. 500cc GP bikes are.

100cc Scooters? I dont care about how long they last, I have owned loads of 80's 2 srtokes and have owened more than 4 350 LC's.

I also remember a Kawasaki 750 HR that used more middle pistons than petrol! Anyone remember the 750 triple???

Back to the 350, driving home there was a rumble from the engine. Saturday morning say the engine out, cases split, crank out, bearings loose as a slut. Both end crank bearings fell off and I was off to the bearings shop. By tea time the bike was back together and annoying the neighbours.

Little 2 stroke scooters sound basically the same and have only one set of each wear out bits. I can put up with regular rebuilds required to keep the front wheel in the air.

Its all about the fannying on with the motor, oh, and the million miles to the gallon. If poking around with the motors reduces the milage to 500K to the gallon then OK.

We were sick of following one and chokeing on its fumes on wednesday night. Why can't the be like abroad where they smell of chips?

Was some Aprillia Scooter so we left it behind at the next set of lights and carried on our way, turns out the rider wasn't very pleased!, the tit was on some suicide mission tranna go round the outside on the next roundabout. Was Pi**ing ourselfs laughing when it came to pulling away he was bouncing bup and down on the footpegs like a jockey tranna get it 2 go faster.

He was obviousley used to playing with the boy racers where he might actually stand a chance of being faster, not the first time we've had a suicide biker cut us up on roundabouts either straightlineing the roundabout when your goin much faster than they are n guess who's fault that'd look like!

Dont get me wrong, ages ago I bloooo a Yamaha RD500 off on around about in my Striker, he buggered off up the road when straightened up and then I passed him again a few miles later at about 125mph.

Its off the line I'm on about and laughing my head off at the twist of the wrist

I've stopped riding propper bikes after a nutter in a 206 GTI crashed into me head on.

My lunitic desire is now with scooters, just to keep the wife on side!
