Does anyone know what backward compatible means for an SD card for my camera (Canon PowerShot S5 IS) I'm after some cards for it, the bigger the
better9 seen an 8Gb), and i've read a few saying to make sure your camera is backwards compatible? but can't find anywhere even on the canon
website that tells me if it is or not or what it means. I'm in work at the moment so can't look at the book and i wanted to order one today
for my holiday next week so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Paul
Is this any use to you?

As far as I'm aware it's not so much backwards compatability that's the problem it's more that some cameras are not designed to work with the larger capacity cards and will throw a wobble if they're expecting anything up to a Gig and you throw 8 at them....
According to Canon, that camera takes any of the following cards:
Secure Digital (SD) Card, Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) Card or MultiMediaCard (MMC).
Here's a list of guaranteed compatible cards:

HTH.
Thanks for the help, i've ordered one from the link you posted Jubal. Thanks
Paul
I've used this place for memory cards for a few years now:
http://www.emartbuy.co.uk/products.php?brandid=&prodtypeid=17&prodid=&searchterm=&Filter%5Bbrandid%5D=0&Filter%5Bcapid%5D=20&
amp;Filter%5Bprice%5D=0&Filter%5Bsortorder%5D=ph2l&x=25&y=9
although their price for this 8Gb seems a little high at the moment, and its not in stock anyway.....
