I now have a very nice sierra diff with a Quaife ATB, new seals, new bearings, new cwp....basically everything is new other than the case (which was shot blasted so looks new) and the propshaft flange

So what oil do I put in it?

Quaife say 'use a hypoid 90 or 75W90' and I happen to have on the shelf an unopened bottle of Red Line Heavy Shockproof which says 'The viscosity characteristics allow the lubricant to resist throwoff and provide a film thickness similar to a 75W250 grade, while providing the same low fluid friction as an SAE 75W90' so will this be OK?

I am not after trying to save money, having spent a 4 figure sum on this diff (don't ask, started out as a £650 job an ended up over twice that ) I am not about to skimp on oil, but will the stuff I have be a good oil to use in it?

Only ever used 75/90 in my Quaiffe diff, think its GL5 stuff. Whatever, its as Quaiffe recommended. 15 years later its not been touched.

After spending a small fortune fitting the new ATB you would be crazy to risk damaging it by saving a few quid on oil.

Its not like the Quaiffe needs mega expensive special oils.

Just but some on the right stuff.

Put in the best oil for your gearbox internals, the Quaife can get by on it. For my Escort RS Turbo gearbox I was advised to use 75w90 semi synthetic as it was best for running through all the small oilways in the box and that the Quaife ATB would be fine with this.

I used the Millers oil from Rally Design that matched the spec Quaife recommended for the ATB, expensive stuff but not had any problems

Redline list an oil that is correct for a Ford/Quaiffe diff.

clearly states "For heavily-loaded racing differentials and transmissions, problem gearboxes", don't think a diff in a Seven falls into that category even when racing.

Why not ask Quaiffe themselves for the cost of a phone call. It may be fine but just a bit OTT.

Not the correct stuff at all. It for a LSD and the Quaiffe is an ATB. The friction modifiers required for a plate diff in this oil may do no harm but its GL6 spec and that is not what Quaiffe recommend.
