Mysterious 4.3 English diff on e-bay
Rob Palin - 21/9/06 at 12:31 PM

There's a guy on e-bay offering a 4.3 diff for a Ford English axle. I've asked a few people and they've never heard of a 4.3 English diff (Atlas, maybe). The advert also says "7-31" which, if he means the number of teeth on the crownwheel & pinion, would mean a 4.4, not 4.3

Does anyone out there know if there ever was a 4.3 ratio diff for the english axle?

If it's a 31/7 tooth, which from the photo's it looks like it is, then it's got to be 4.4 (4.43 to be precise) He's talking out of his ar5e if you ask me.....

Hi 4.3's are available for the lada axle which are simalar in size and desighn but not a ford.

I bet you thought you had found an interesting advantage for a moment.

Too right! A 4.3 would probably be just about perfect for us at several tracks. I just knew though that if i hadn't heard of anyone using them before then there must be a good reason...

Looks like my wallet's somehow got to take the bashing of forking out for one of those posh BGH 5-speed boxes and a (kosher) 4.4 diff.

i was pretty sure that some granada's had a 4.3 diff???????

But unfortunately if it's not Capri, Cortina or Escort then our rules won't allow it. Damn.

I remember you saying at the weekend that they're due to be outlawed for 2008. What i'm thinking is that there's some performance advantage there (however small) and that now half the grid have them. I need all the help i can get!

Also - when they are banned i can 'just' change the 5th back to a standard sierra. I have to be careful with what i say there because things like that are never as easy as they sound.

Hi (never as easy as it sounds) damd right there.
All i will say is brian has the best combo and he aint using a 5 speed.
