I'm looking for a higher ratio diff for my MG Midget/Sprite - circa 3.38 ( has a 3.9 at the moment ) anyone who what will fit and source of supply?
Wasn't the Riley 1.5 or Wolsely 1500 the highest ratio that would fit the Midget axle? probably rarer than rocking horse manure though
The late (post 1978) Midgets use a 3.7:1 diff, but these seem to be hard to find. As for something lower, i dont believe they made any.
It is an A series axle
Diff was used in quite a few cars (some of which had B series engines) lots of short ratios were made for A35 vans and the like but as it was only
used in cars up to 1600cc you will be pushed to find a longer ratio than 3.77.
Usual way round it is to fit a type 9 gearbox.
This this the same axle as the Marina/Ital used? What ratio did the 1800 versions use?
