Scalextric Time!

Christmas hols - so time to pull it down off the top of my wardrobe.

Forgotten how much fun it was.

Been racing my daughter for the last few hours. She's getting good :O

Also forgotten how much track I had - the main straight is about 15 feet long...

Must have 200ft of track in the attic and loads of cars. Haven't had it out since the kids were born, and the eldest is 7 & 1/2. Suppose I might let them have a go this Christmas, but then again...

Was playing with that in the shop t'other day.

Amusing, but could quickly get bored - if you can't get the hang of it

The cars are fitted with unique guide blade systems that allow 360 degree movement. The challenge is to fishtail the car around the perfectly shaped figure-of-eight circuit and send tyre walls flying! It's great fun and, remember, points will be awarded for style

So...back to the orignal blade designs? I know my old 80s cars could sping 360...

Had real problems with my TVRs until I realised the Tyres were hard and no grip...now have 1 decent porsche & 1 decent TVR out of my earlier sets (also got GT40, Caterham etc as individuals)

Many years ago my Dad bought a huge bundle of s/h track and built a huge permanent layout in our loft space. There was enough to build one track inside the other, so it had 4 lanes.

The best car by far was a Lotus 49-esque car that he scratch built when he was in his teens and won several trophies with in a local Scalextric championship. Wonder if they still have these!

Sadly he took it all up and sold it when we left home (including a huge 00 Gauge model railway with electric points, electric turntable etc.).
