MK2 Rallye, 4 wheel drive and supercharged in a fantastic shape.
Best one ever.

Always thought that it was a very poor replacement for the beetle. VW went from a streamlined teardrop to a box on wheels. German car design jumped 30
years backwards with introduction of the golf. They should have just built a bigger FWD front engined watercooled bug with a hatch back.

Mark II Golf GTI 16V for me - though it's not on the list . Quick and felt solid to drive.
Cheers,
Don.

yip based ironically on the golf , though I'm not too keen on the new bug, it's lost a lot of the shape of the original and looks too
rounded

Seat Leon Cupra R I had a string of golfs but they werent reliable and werent fast - admitedly never owned a mk1 but the Seats just get more power
out the box and better goodies.

This thread is a bit like asking what is the best Mini. There isnt one - too many people have great memories of owning one, nomatter how bad their
particular car was - that everyone made is great.
I loved my Mk1 16V, but even the Mk2 8V was great. Just a good honest no nonesence fun car.
