Track day yesterday!

Hello all, did a track day yesterday and the car was flawless! Had a great day, but those sodding R500 Caterhams are just too fast!

Went out in a few other cars too, a Cerbera which was awesome on the straights (170mph!) and a car I was very surprised with a BMW Z3M Roadster (the one with the M3 engine). Mind you, my brother in law cadged a lift in a Porsche GT3!

RAF Odiham, was run by RMA trackdays. It was a brilliant day, as was open pitlane format with a good long staright (unfortunately my car tops out at 120mph) but some of the other cars were seriously fast!

Think the next one is in November.

I went to an RMA trackday at SPA a few years back in a mates Cat. RMA do tend to get some exotic motors at there days.

I was sharing the SPA GP circuit with among other things a real LOLA T70!!! I tell you I was physically excited!!!! The sound and image of that beast tearing past me on the run down to Les Combe in excess of 200mph still has the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end today.

I reacon I could of taken him through Les Combe though if he hadn't tried to set fire to me with the overrun flames shooting out of the drainpipes he called exhausts.

Really recommend Spa for a trackday by the way! It is truly great.

this was only my second track day, but the car was good. My car was faster than an exige, lotus europa and eludes on the twisty bits! The r500s were in a totally different league though, fast on the straights, good brakes and fast in and out of the corners! So in answer the r500s were a lot better than mine ( but they do cost £30k!).

Looking forward to next track day in November, hoping to get a few mods done to the car by then.

The R500 is the better part of 100bhp more than your car and iirc runs fairly large brakes (255mm front vents and 230mm solid rears with 4 pots all round) So its harly surprising.

Like you say tho, for the difference in budget its certainly impressive the stuff you were keeping with!
