I'm not having a go, I have a serious question
When did we brits start filling forms "out" ? As far as I remember, the first 30 years of my life, we all filled forms
"in"[1], what happened ?
[1] I still do !

You don't need an MOT for the first 3 years so not a problem. Also can't recall anyone being pulled by the plod for not having an MOT as
long as they have road tax. MOT is more of an insurance issue...

MOTs are on a national database nowadays, I'm pretty sure it'll flag you up if you drive past an ANPR scamera...

Ask your local dvla for a v112 form, worked for me as I taxed my car at the post office on Thursday with one. Declaration of manufacture of less than
3yrs.
Hope this helps..

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Download V112 from here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4017716
According to DVLA if your car doesn't need a MOT you have to produce this certificate, this is why the Post Office get confused.
"Form V112 is available for vehicle owners who run vehicles which are exempt from MOT testing, and must be produced in place of an MOT
certificate with an application for a vehicle licence (tax disc)"
