Today at the SVA center.....

local guy, Bryn, some will know him and his car, went for SVA at Nottingham today, failed on a few minor points but one to watch for.......
funny it was mentioned last night at the yorks meeting,
........anything that looks like a "tempory fix" will be a fail, Bryn had covered his bonnet over-center type catch's with foam n tape, this was deem'd tempory and was a fail, (it just so happend i had a supply of dzus fastners in the garage, so its sorted), as would foam on track rods ect.....so you have been warned, other fail points where a 10 min fix, test re-booked next wed so another J29 locost hits the road.

oh for those who aint seen it, 16v Vauxh, home built chassis with De-deon and very well screw'd togethor.....

Told you so
A guy on another list had the same probs with track rod nuts, tester told him to put another gaiter on the arm, which extended to over the nut and that would be fine. All covers edging etc needs to look as though it belongs there permanently!

I don't suppose there's a pic of this car with the (temp) non-temp fittings? Would be nice to see what sort of things I'll have to do when the time comes. Not that it's that soon

Don't worry, just buy a log book and fake it like so many others. One day you will all be named and shamed! I will be there to see your tears of remorse!

my locost failed SVA on wednesday at watnall test centre, there are a few things to be aware of.

1. I have been asked to cover the rear boot space...due to non radiused parts on axle etc, i didnt know about this as i have been present before when another car passed without.

2. I have Stuart taylor Headlamp mounts, i was asked to use a trim on the holes in these brackets.

3. lighting, front Stuart Taylor indicators were a gnats whisker too far inboard.

4. piece of pipe used to connect brake resovoir to master cylinders had no spec printed on it!

5. reflectors were just too low...they were put on with an empty tank of fuel!

6. track rod ends, i was told to put heater hose/ radiator hose on them.

Oh yeah i think it upset him when he burned his arm on my exhaust! quite bad too
thats about it really, nothing i cant rectify this weekend. i will send an update soon.
please mail me off list if you need to know more.
