motorised LCD / plasma TV bracket
not sure if anyone one here has bought / built one but any suggestions or advice accepted.
I am finishing off decorating / re building! our bedroom and for a finishing touch i am planning on installing a LCD / Plasma TV in the room. wall
mounting is possible but we have sliding wardrobes directly in front of the bed, so one option is to build a cabinet with a TV lifting bracket at the
foot of the bed
or
another idea i had is to have a bracket on the top of the wardrobe so that when the TV is not in use it will lay flat on the top of the wardrobe out
of sight.
when needed at the flick of a switch (or remote) the tv will slide out from the top of wardrobe and tilt 90 degrees to sit in front of the doors.
you can buy linear actuators for just the job but i will have to design and build a bracket.
anyone done owt like this on here?

I've never done anthing like that before but I think that a linear actuator to bring the tv out from the foot of the bed is a much better idea -
I've seen them in a few hotel rooms and some hot tubs.
Not so keen on the latter idea, tilting down over 90 degress, I think would require a raidal bracket to keep in one plane of movement that would be
quite bulky and also would mean you can't open the wardrobes when you watch tv!

we have the same setup and ive been thinking about exactly the same thing on top of the wardrobe!

couldn't the Tv have a roller on the back of it & a bit of string on the top?
When you want the tv you wind the string out and it pivots / rolls over the wardrobe till its hanging in front of the wardrobe. When you don't
want it, you wind it back.
(very heath robbinson and liable to not work).

TV on end of bed?? maybe, can be easily done but a 40" LCD may be a bit close?

Been contemplating something similar, i was thinking of cutting out the roof joists and making a sheet metal box that holds the TV flush with the
ceiling, using a hinge and linear actuators to lower the tv to the required viewing angle by remote control.
Unfortunately i'm still at the thinking about it stage, so not a lot of help, sorry
Hows life treating you stateside Paul?
Reckon you baled out just at the right time, as this side of the pond is sh#te at the mo.

Have you thought about mounting a motorised projector screen to the ceiling (just in front of your mirrored wardrobe doors), and a projector above the
headboard of the bed? Works for me!
