First drive today
Glad to say had the first drive of the GTS today with the new engine fitted.
No major problems other than the usual first drive tuning stuff to sort.
Probably covered around 50 miles today need to give everything a good checking over tomorrow morning. As the forecast is to chuck it down with rain it
gives me chance to sort the niggles. One of which being the indicators being a little confusing at the moment
Hard to tell what the performance is like at the moment as its running quite a way out (way too rich under boost). I know it will screech the tyres
with only a little throttle off the line though, which is more than the pinto ever would.
Running the engine in at the moment too, kept the revs under 4000rpm. But I now know that I am getting around 4.5psi of boost at 4000rpm. Which would
indicate max boost of around 8 or 9psi at the redline. So I will be looking at fitting a smaller pulley at some point in the future. Though this
should be an easy upgrade as the boost curve should remain constant so it should just be a case of modding the top of the map to take into account of
the extra boost.
I need to do some work on the spark map too. I dont have any knock at any revs (yet) but I am cruising at a much higher vac than I was hoping for
(cruises at around 80-95kpa absolute) which may cause problems advancing the ignition a lot at this point to get a really efficient cruise. Time will
tell though and its something that will develop in the coming weeks and months.
The front springs seem a little too soft, grounded the sump a couple of times on the back roads today. Which is concerning as I dont have that little
ground clearance. So I may change them back to the springs I had fitted with the pinto.
Last job of today was wrapping the exhaust and baking it on. Also took the opportunity to dial in the acceleration enrichment a little which should
show next time I go out for a drive.

Had another few drives of the car today. All going relatively well other than a few minor tuning problems.
Going to give the car a good going over tomorrow afternoon and make sure nothing is falling off.
Looks like its doing around 25mpg in its poorly tuned state at the moment. Had a few problems with the set up so far, but I seem to have gone part way
to solving them. Seems to be difficult to tune the bit between coming off cruise to going on boost. Think I have my head round it now...
