I bought some Gaz from a guy called Absolute Shocks in Welwyn Garden City.

Reasonably cheap too.

NTDWM BTW.

Kindest Regards,

Hi Ed,

I'm also in the market for shocks and springs...

However, I posted a wee while ago looking for opinions on shock absorber brands and the impression I got from the replies was that the GAZ units were the least reliable.

Just thought it was worth bringing it to your attention.

Cheers

Scotty

I have Gaz and would say protech would be a better bet. The GAZ are steel and so quite heavy, also mine leaked without being used. Don`t seem to be the only one with this problem.

Ok Excellent, Nice one! Sent an email to a few protech sellers and will come back with some prices!
Gaz seem to not have much in it for group buys. £340 ish goes down to £315 with 5+. Lets see what protech reply with!
Regards
Ed

I would go directly to Protech or via Procomp. Make sure that you get them valved for a light weight car. I think Procomp will dyno them too.

Protech are really nice guys and will do a deal.

Just my 2p worth

Ok can we make a list!
£330 all in 4 shocks/springs.
Can people who want them, tell me their shock sizes and spring weights.
Mine will be 12" front 13" rear with 175 and 275 springs...

Is there any choice with closed length vs open, or do all the e.g. Protech 13" shocks have a same closed length?

I'll have to take a couple of shocks of the car and measure them.

They are the same for a given open length.

Would I get half a set for half price?

Also how are they mounted? I would want 1/2" rose jointed ones, rather then a rubber bush
