What should I be paying for my donor parts?
I'm planning a single seater build using Fiat cinquecento / seicento parts, mostly because the steering rack is the most suitable. For
simplicity, I'll use lots of it. Donor cars can be had for a couple of hundred quid as breakers and decent runners start about £400 but I
don't have space to dismantle a donor or have the inclination to get rid of the shell. So I don't get ripped off at a car breaker, what
should I be paying for:
2x alloy wheels and tyres,
front hubs and uprights
front lower control arms
front anti roll bar, drop links, bushes and caps
front brake callipers and flexis
complete steering system from wheel to track rod ends, including steering lock / ignition barrel and keys, plus door locks in case I want a boot at
some point
steerng column cowels
pedal box, master cylinder and front brake pipes
hand brake lever and cable
steering column switches and a bit of loom
1 set of seat runners.

Better Still - Free
If you planning a build can't you strip the doner in the build area and then cut up shell with angry grinder and dispose before yu start....
Scot's do it better in Kilts.
MK INDY's Don't Self Centre Regardless of MK Setting !

buy a cheap donor and strip in one day while on the trailer then take to the scrappers and get rid. no need for room all you need is a few people to
help you jack up the cart while you remove the bits you need.
good luck.

My local friendly salvage yard wants £650 +VAT (£763) for the parts. By my reckoning, that's the £200 he paid for the car plus £200 labour to
remove plus £250 mark up plus VAT and a fair bit more than I'm willing to pay.
The trouble with the trailer idea is that I don't have one or a tow car. It would be a lot cheaper to cut up a donor.
