Time to be realistic....
Hi guys
Due to a number of reasons, the main one being a move up north the begining of next year, I am looking at selling my kit car this month.
I know its the wrong time of year to be selling, but I want to use the cash to pay off a few bills so I can go into the move with a better bank
balance!
The trouble is I have no idea what it is worth!! - I know way less than I have ploughed into it but can anyone point me at a starting figure. (I want
to price it to sell)
This is the ad I have just cobbled together...
(I will add some more pics of rear and inside tomorrow..)
With much sadness I am going to be selling my Locost Kitcar. I rarely use it now and have covered 4000 miles since a full mechanical rebuild in 2008.
Originally built by T+J sportscars in 1991 and rebuilt into a book chassis in 1993 by a previous owner, this car is pre-SVA, Q plate and only nees a
visible smoke test at MOT time

Engine
1700 cc crosflow with 4000 miles covered (RR printout for 136BHP)

Shortened, baffled and winged sump.

Kent 234 Camshaft kit

Gear reduction starter motor to cope with increased compression
High pressure/capacity oil pump with remote filter housing and oil cooler with thermostatic control valve.
Modified breather system with 2 litre alloy catch tank
Silicone hoses
Pacet PROFAN radiator fan
Modified coolant system using a header tank
Twin 40 DCOEs on short manfold setup by Mech Motorsport March 2010
Facet solid state fuel pump with filter king filter/regulator
Westfield SS 4-1 exhaust manfold with Caterham SS silencer.
ITG sausage filter to fit under bonnet
Ignition
Bestek bosch electronic igniton with magnecor leads
OMEX rev limiter with launch control
Transmission
Type 9 gearbox fully rebuilt by Intergear in willenhall 4 months ago
New clutch kit fitted with gearbox
Short shift gearstick

Live axle with 3.89 open diff fully rebuilt by Intergear 4 months ago
Steering/Suspension
Rose jointed gaz coilvers purchased from Dampertech
Polyflex bushes
Mk2 Escort sterering column
10 mountney sterring wheel modified for lauch control
Snap off lockable quick release steering boss
2.4 turn MK2 escort rack purchased from Rally Design March 2010 (solid Mounts)
Mintex M1144 Pads for Cortina calipers
Braided Brake hoses
Other
Acewell Digidash with temp/fuel readouts
Minator 14x6 Alloy wheels with Toyo R888 tyres (185/60/14) (fronts 500 miles old)
(Spare brand new alloy with brand new R888 on rear of car and another spare brand new alloy included)
Full wet weather gear (roof can be folded onto boot or removed along with doors).
35 Litre alloy fuel tank
GRP seats with Caterham 4 point harnesses (aircraft typr buckle)
Rear boot tornneau cover
Now for the things that need attention
Reverse light is fitted and wired up but needs switch fitting to gearbox
Alumimium panels have minor dents in a few places
Paintwork could do with a polish and there are a number of paint chips on the nosecone.
N/S tranmisson tunnel panneling is tatty and could do with replacing
A couple of wheels have a bit of overspray on them from when the bodywork was orignally repainted by previous owner.
This car will be sold with the remianing MOT (FEB 2010). The tax ran out 31/8/2010 and the vehicle is on SORN, but can be taxed and/or MOTed at cost
for the winning bidder if required.

Not sure on price but it is a nice looking car.
I would guess the value is £4K+?
I would keep it and sell something else

Where abouts are you moving to? We do have a couple of nice roads up here...

That's a nice car... you'd be mad to let it go for £3k!
Stick it on eBay... I've seen the tattiest of tatties go for £3k, so I'd hope that this would fetch a bit more!

How about a pint and a lift home on Monday?
Oh go on, i'll throw in a bag of crisps.
You're 'accept' price seems a bit cheap for what i think is a nice car (and perhaps you should delete the thread otherwise everyone
will just offer you that).

Not normally a fan of the clamshell, but I've always really like the look of your car.
A shame to sell up, but I know from experience that needs must sometimes.
I'd be asking £4,195 and looking for just under £4k for it. It might need some cosmetics, but it seems well specced and in good order.

Lovely car. If you had any other wheels for her I'd be interested in making an offer for the ones on her and I'm sure you'd still
get the same money as it would fetch as it is.
Good luck with the sale
Chris.
