Nice work Kris,looks like it was meant to be there.
I agree with Steve on the water rail mind,get rid of it and
fit an oem thermostat housing.
Then fit a bypass hose,it will solve any cooling problems mate.

Just slide a hacksaw blade behind the mesh and saw away, it will cut it quite neatly with no damage to anything...
I posted the link above cos I liked Joe's Fury ones. He made a metal pattern and cup to press the ali into shape, but it would be V v simple to
do in MDF and hardboard etc...

Problems with vent in the bonnet in my oppinion are if you do have a boil over and it decides to vent theres a good chance of hot water in the face/ I
opened the sides up on mine to allow heat out low down
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

i added a boil over pipe that goes under the floor a few years back
