Just bought a Racecorp LA
Hello,
First post. Have just registered today after buying a Racecorp LA roadster off ebay this weekend. It was listed as a "kit car project" and
the owner didn't know what it was but I went round last night for a look and have now identified it. Everything seems to be there but it's
all in bits and "just needs putting back together again".
If anyone has one or knows anything about this model, please get in touch.
Thanks,
Tom

From what I've found out so far, no I don't think so (I just had a quick look at the LA Gold on Procomp's site).
The Racecorp LA seemed to turn into an Eldon Roadster (or maybe it was the other way round) and then morphed into a Razer sometime in the 90's.
My car is registered as a Ford Escort and is on a W plate.

...so it'll need to be IVAd unless with the car you acquired proof that it's been in existence as a kit car since before SVA and can
persuade them to apply the amnesty?

The company was originally based around High Wycombe, Bucks.
They built the LA, a Lotus/Westfield clone and also got talked into building a high-ground-clearance model for Classic Car Trials like the Exeter.
I had built two of the trials cars from kits – both with Pinto engines but the chassis were too weak and folded up at the rear.
I sold these a couple of years ago.
I had the company build me a short-wheelbase off-road special to take a 2 litre Vauxhall 16-valve engine which won a few events. I still have this,
registered at MUDI 2W as I remember.
The company also built some quick Alfa-based cars for Le Mans.
Eventually sold out to one of their customers who carried on trading south of the Thames for a couple of years
E-mail me if I can help further

Hello,
I unfortunately bought the car from monkeythree. I completly rebuilt it during the last 5 years. Sadly I didn't find this post before.
That's why the car just stands in my workshop and is not able to get registered in switzerland since 2 years because they say, it's not a
Racecorp, it's a Ford Escort.
How difficult is it to get the car correctly registered in UK now? At the moment the only possibility to ever be able to drive is to come back to UK
and register it correctly. I got no paper (beside the V5C) with the car, so I can't proof, that the car is from 1990.
Thanks for your help.

Sad to hear.
I would suggest you to post in the IVA/Legal forum so you get the most hits and better chance of getting this issue resolved.
Welcome to the forum.

it cannot be IVA-ed as the car is now into Swiss-ownership in switzerland.
and even when the car would been in UK it would be questionable if its worth the effort to invest in modifications to get this car IVA-ed....
the car was incorrectly registered in UK, the swiss authorities know that too, (also the german, french, spanish, italien ....authorities would
recognize it) consecutively they deny the registration.
such things should have been claryfied BEFORE any money would have been thrown into that car...now its too late and the owner can use it now as a
flowerpot in his garden.
or he will go the illegal route...paying somebody to get the car registered with paperwork from a scrapped vehicle like westfield, dutton etc....which
is highly illegal!!!!
