Powder coating guide price

I'm planning to build a car lifting frame and I'm thinking of getting it powder coated rather than spraying it. I really have no idea what powder coating costs though. Calculations show that 50x25mm RHS is more than up to the job and I'll be using 10 metres of it. There'll be 2 frames about 0.8 x 1m and a few lengths all between 600 and 1000mm long. Should I be thinking around £50 or more like £200?

Bettablast in the NE quoted me around £290 to powder coat my Fiat chassis, galvanised then any colour of my choice.

The price was likely to climb to around £450 including all the other bits & bobs I want done.

The kit Companies ive seen that offer it as an 'extra' tend to charge about £200 so that is defo a good starting point. Obviously yours would be less metal than a full kit.
Why not try a diy kit (electrostatic magic)
About £120 i think. I did my Aframes:

I had a swingarm and a few small brackets done on my old GPZ500 and it cost £45 from a local place. They did a good job, but I did think it was a bit steep considering they weren't difficult shapes or large items.

Have you considered galvanising it?

If you don't care what colour it is (and it'll probably end up black anyway, as that's what they do most if), find your nearest powder coating place, and go and talk cash with them. I've never met one yet (and I've used a lot of them, and used to work for one!), who didn't do fill-in jobs for cash to use up the rest of the powder in the gun. We even used to sweep the waste powder from the floor, put it in a big container, and use the resulting brownish mix for customers who really didn't care what colour!

Don't pay more than £40 - £50 cash for what you want, it not very much metal to coat

Cheers

Adrian

OK, that's good. £200 for a chassis, so mine should be less than that. It is simpler and smaller. Galvanising might be worth thinking about too.

I've seen the DIY powder coating kit. If I had a big enough oven I'd definitely consider it. I don't want to spend hours with a heat gun though.

I paid 40 quid to have my wishbones, cleaned, degreased and powdercoated in satin black (silver powdercoat before)
He did my headlamp bowls and a few other bits too as he had to do that colour in its own batch.
Bargain I thought

You couldn't pwn your way out of a wet paper bag, with "PWN ME!!" written on it, from the "pwned take-away" which originally contained one portion of chicken tikka pwnsala and the obligatory free pwnpadom.

the only powdercoaters i use in midlands are redditch shot blasting.

had loads of things done over the years, from push bike frames to MEV rocket chassis. always a superb job. somewhere around £100 is my guess. you will definately find somewhere cheaper, but it will be crap in comparison.

They're a couple of miles from work. I'll pop round when I know what I'm doing.
