Bizzy day

Bizzy day today
Cut the stupid oversize Robin Hood Flange to smaller size...
Welded n fitted the four into one ...
Chatting to a guy in a repair shop who sold me 2 used hoses for £5... They Fit !!!
Had a very hot shower and scrub - took son to carvery for lunch...

Should be thinking about bed.. Thininking about ordering a prop shaft

Indeed - for a site called 'Locost'builders there are alarmingly few people who are actually building a Locost from the plans anymore - which I think is a shame. Nothing wrong with just going out and buying everything then just bolting it together and fitting the biggest engine you can afford but it's just not the same......... ahhh the good old days in 2 months I'll have been a member of this forum for 10 years which is quite scary

Well there are still some of us building one

In early stages Front suspention about done

Currently working on rear axle

Got a 1300 crossflow to go in

Funds low not plannibg on getting it finished this year may be later next year

When was the last time we saw a post asking how to fit FU and FU too?

At least cutting the flange the way you have allows the manifold to flex enough to get the gaskets to seal against the head which it probably wouldn't due to the massive amount of distortion in the flange . I just cut my flange into 3 without cutting it off completely but I did have to reweld 1 of the joints that hadn't been welded properly . Still you get what you pay I suppose? It might be a good idea to think about a heatshield between the alternator and the manifold?
