10% import duty on purchase price + P&P

+

20% VAT on the above sub-total

+

£10-ish 'handling fee'.

You would be far cheaper to keep an eye out for one on these shores. Remember that they are the same (more or less) as the Dihatsu Charade ones...

Also look at the postage cost, shipping from the US costs really silly money.

As a viable alternative If you need a Denso alternator with a single V groove pulley buy a Rover 100 alternator and get a single groove Denso pulley off ebay

ahh never saw that.

even with postage from US those prices were better than UK, but after taxes i'll be worse off by the sound of it.

whatever i do i need to swap out the single v or 4v on the charade for a 5v pulley - or i guess i could run a 4v belt if pushed... can't see that being too much of a problem.

kubota tractor alt 12v 40a new from a place in devon, including swapping in a new pulley cost £120 + postage including 12month guarantee, daihatsu charade might be slightly cheaper.

Suzuki Swift alternator is near the same. £75 from http://www.startermotor-alternator.co.uk/.

They'll put whatever pulley on it.

Cheers,
Nev.

He would have to mark the package as under $36 worth as anything over still attracts the duties, $18 for a purchase, $36 for a gift, and still then, if they think it feels a bit heavy to be $36 worth they'll open it to have a nosey and charge you duty on it.
