I have as much chance of getting an age related plate as Mo Molam winning Miss World

I was just interested how many different cars are incorporated into the 'avareage' locost

I'v got a similar list to you Mark, and I'v still some way to go.

Also keeping a "CV" with cost analysis as well. Just topped the 3K mark (sorry for the pun).

Not sure you'll swing an age related plate. You might have got it if you'd used the sierra diff and half-shafts.

Hi again,

On this Q plate thing, does anyone know if you can swing a sort of personal plate?

I'd quite like Q 907 - - -

from the document

If a new monocoque bodyshell or chassis from a specialist kit manufacturer is used (or an altered chassis/bodyshell from an existing vehicle) together with two major components from a donor vehicle, an age related mark will be assigned. The mark will be based on the age of the donor vehicle. An ESVA/SVA/MSVA test will be required to register the vehicle.

thats the way I understood it.

So, if you have a V5 from the car which your engine and gearbox came from, and you have a reciept for the steel you used to build the chassis (a new chassis is specified) then its an age related plate from the donor - on the V5.

So, provided you have the above, i recon you will get an age plate

ps

note that the '8 points' system mentioned DOES NOT apply to a locost

Think I counted parts from 10 cars in it today.

Engine, g'box, hubs- 2.0i Sierra (donor).

Radiator- Nissan Micra

Pump, Carb/manifold- 2.0 Sierra

Alternator- Bedford Rascal

Water Pump- 1.6 Capri

Clutch Cable- 3.0 Capri

Tappet cover- MK2 Golf

Prop- Transit Van

Diff- 2.8i 4x4 Sierra

Accel Pedal- Mk3 Nissan Micra

Handbrake- Metro

Braided Brake Lines- VW Corrado

Header Tank- Astra

Brake 'T' piece- another Sierra

Okay, guess that's 14 and I'm bound to have forgotten something.

That's about the same as I used on mine for donor parts and they gave me the donor registration at Sheffield VRO. If all the Sierra parts were from the same car you should get age related at least.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Thanks Stuart.

I wonder how much it would cost?

An arm & a leg, or just an arm.

Mark also did you know that the car does not need to be completed to apply for your vin number. get it in early and avoid all the hassles at the end together

Everything is done except the engine wiring, dash, interior trim, boot box, paint (15 very skilled and willing helpers on this one though!!), Exeter is just possible, but only just
