Learning to Drive
When we have finished the car (hopefully about a years time) I will want to learn to drive it. I know it will be a beast to learn to drive in
but......
Where could we take the car to learn to drive it (other than up and down the driveway). I have driven a few other car in my life before, but that
was round a field. I am hoping to start competing when I am 16.

I learnt to drive in a tractor, which is why I flick sh1t at people as I drive about.
at 3 mph
Cheers

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

Industrial estates are pretty good, evenings or weekends they are dead. My dad took me out on our local estate when I was 16, never any questions
asked.
Also you'll be surprised how varied an industrial estate can be, mine had fast and slow corners, slopes, parking bays, roads for 3 point turns
etc, I learnt most of the basics there!

is this one of those turns where a copper spots you using the handbrake, and gives you 3 points?!

The industrial estate idea is a bit dodgy as I think you can get done for no insurance even if it is private land. I think the law was changed to stop
boy racers taking over a supermarket car park for a night of fun and now rules that if the private land is available to the general public then all
the normal insurance rules apply. Best bet is to find someone with a bit of land you can use like a farm or a few airfield based track days.

Hmm, I'll have to find someone in school with a bit of tarmac (preferably bigger than the car).

been one one of their activity days, it was a hoot. Would like to go back for a proper tuition day, maybe when the locost is finished. The instructor
at north weald really knows his onions too. Took one guy's elise out to show us how it was done, lovely drifting, faster by miles than anyone
else's circuit - and he had a broken left ankle.

The Industrial estate is BAD Idea.
So is Tesco / Sainsbury's Car Parks etc.
ANY place that the public have access to requires full legal documentation and all Laws apply ie Mot Tax, Insurance, Driving licence and age etc. Even
if its private Land like said estates and car parks.
You dont want to be paying for an injury to some kid that came out of nowhere and got seriously injured. unlikely but possible.
You need a fully private bit of Land, or permission to use an old airfield etc.

Bit far from you, but there is an old airfield in Northumberland you can use for driving practice. Must be others around the country. Get out the OS
map and have a look - then go find the entrance!
