Covering a car while towing on trailer?

hi,
Just wondering what people do to keep their car clean if on an open trailer? Anyone using tarpaulins or covers? I had to tow my car from the guy doing some work on it and it is abcolutely filthy now!

Covers flap and scratch the paintwork, just clean it.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Paint damage is what worries me, but 80 miles to track and 80 miles back in bad weather will really make a mess of the car.....

You would have to wrap it up like a German sausage and even then if air gets under a loose bit it'll flap like an unrestrained sail

Why are you worried about it getting dirty on your trailer to/from the event, but you're not worried about the state it will get in on track?

I cover mine on a trailer. Just a tarp thats protecting the cockpit mostly. I hold it down with bungee cords. Keeps it proper tight and tarp doesn't blow around, even on motorway. Never had a mark or scratch in a couple of hundred miles.

I have used the netting and cover option shown on ebay for my Locost race car. It worked very well, but I cant really comment on what damage it may do to the paint as my paint job was quite rough to start. But it certainly stops the car cover ballooning whilst traveling even at motorway speeds

One of the RGB racers certainly uses the net solution. However, pretty paint is less of a concern when you are rubbing it against the car next to you.

how about a soft car cover and one of these? http://www.coveryourcar.co.uk/store/product.php?productid=17150

One of the RGB boys uses it and it's been great so far.

Edited to say i just spotted the post above. £150 isn't bad considering you are getting 2 covers for that price. One actual car cover and the netting cover which is seperate (£65 on the link i posted)

I'm looking to do the same, although i've just had a quote to cover my BJ trailer with zipped doors on the rear and both sides for £350 + vat. i just need to sort the frame. It should come in about £1400 cheaper than what GT trailers to cover a trailer !!
