Grand Prix Midgets- Low cost racing

A quick heads-up on a great formula racing at various ovals throughout the country, Grand Prix Midgets. I don't race them myself, but they are one of the formulas I was looking at for my next project

Regulations are very open compared to most formulas, with front engined, rear engined and side engined cars all competing against each other, and home built cars are very much encouraged. One of the guys on facebook has the moulds for the great looking Dastle cars, and general opinion is (with updating to meet the current rollcage rules) a new one could still be on pace with the newer cars. A big draw is that that the entry fees are only a fraction of what you'd pay to race on a big circuit, and the racing is very much wheel to wheel.

Hi Guys im the one with the dastle mk7 moulds that steve has mentioned i also have 5 other historic midgets that are all rebuild projects i own a genuine dastle mk7 a wide bodied copy of a dastle mk7 a dastle mk18 a westfield midget which are all front engined cars and i also own a copy of a fireball mk4 which is a rear engined mini based midget i have all the moulds for the mk7s to make panels the chassis are a very straight forward design and no 2 cars build by dastle where identical as they were all made from what ever steel he had in his workshop at the time and there was no jigs for them them i also own the chassis jigs for the mk18's including the jigs for making all the suspension and bumpers and rear uprights both of those cars used triumph front uprights and factory built rear uprights using hillman imp brakes and hubs running 1300cc ford flow engines with anglia gearbox on to a triumph diff, the westfield was built in 1996 by westfield which where designed for both midget and hill climbs using cortina front uprights and westfield rear up rights the chassis was designed round west fields current cars at the time to allow ease of the build using the front and rear chassis components then the centre section being designed specifically for a single seat formula and where designed to take any engine and gearbox to suit the driver, the fireball ball used the full front end out of a mini subframe engine box and uprights at the rear with a modified gear linkage on to a space frame chassis using mini front up rights and adjustable front suspension all very quick fun cars with some very close racing going on agains other home built cars and production cars

2nd being a westfield thats out in holland that races with the midgets in the uk
3rd being a genuine fireball mk4
4 being my dad in his old dastle mk7 in the 90s

this how big they really are lol
