Bike panniers on a '7'?

Just thinking ahead to future European tours in my Haynes and its lack of luggage space.
I was wondering about mounting a pair of hard motorbike panniers on the outside of the rear roll bar braces. They're secure, weather proof and clip off to go in your hotel at night, basically made for the job. Anyone done anything similar, or am I mad?

There was a Westfield for sale a couple of years ago that had two bike top boxes on the roll bar over the boot box. That would work.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure

I've seen photos of a 7 with a couple of large boxes hooked over the sides, sitting between the wheels.

Hooking over the roll bar could work too, I'm building a tyre rack for mine which sits here.

I have seen an orange MEV Tr1ke with hard side panniers, looked like factory spec. Although they were set low either side of the engine. Google images should find it....
