had my first ride
in an avon tiger... its all part of my research to see which kit i want its also why i went to the show to speaker to people get some ideas and there
views
my landlord knew a guy at work and asked him to come round, he came round sunday mid day hight of all the sun, told me bout his car sva probs what hed
done then i tryed the drivers seat, heres where i want to pose you guys a few questions
I didnt exactly fit i can get in the seat and dipite my arm hanging over the side a bit its comfortable but my knees where pushing against the
bottom of the dash and steering wheel thus allowing me no access to the peddles which with my size 14 boats on the bottom of me feet was difficult
anyway. Im worryed what ever kit i do try and drive i wont be able to drive properly
but then this was a fixed seat and he was a small chap, after speaking with the guys at indy they say one id be wearig thiner shoes and two the seat
and coloum are adjustable so in theory i should be able to drive one
is there any one else out there 6ft 2" and 17 stone ??? how have you overcome this is there anything regarding peddle mods that can be done ??
now i felt a bit more comfortable in the mk indy but alot more comfortable in the viento but then thats for fat men so out of principle i want to fit
in a locost sized car
is there any good shoes people can recommend for driving a locost in ??
The car i had a ride in was 2.0 pinto based motorcycle carbs and fast road cam, bout 140bhp est and it was silly quick!!!! grantted im a nervous
passenger by nature but by god i was laying bricks 90 degree turns at 60 .... 0 - 100 in the space of 100 yards... no windscreen at 100 with no helmet
on!!! if i opened my mouth it wouldnt close!
after that i came to the decision yes it was fantastic and i was on high for hours but does it need to be any faster than that ... no not really ..
the feel of being 2" off the floor coupled with 100 mph and no hellemt and no windscreen is absoulotly enough.. it was fantastic and enough for
this speed freak i can tell ya
im defo going 2.0 pinto for my first if anyone else is thinking it isnt fast enough just ask someone with one for a blast it will soon pursaude you
its plenty good enough
also as a ruff guide for my garage preparations whats the width widest part of a MK indy to widest part and longest part to longest part ???

Apart from the Viento the Indy is about the next most spacious- and this is only because although it's standard size it has quite a small
transmission tunnel.
I would have thought that with kit bought and setup for you then you'll be ok. You only need adjustable stuff if someone else is driving.
Failing all that be really revolutionary and build a Locost. Can make it any size you want then!

Well I am 6ft 4in and 18 stone and my Indy is fine. Will have a small removeable steering wheel and the seat is right back but it's fine, ok
it's not exactly spacious obviously but it's fine.
I have tried an Avon and couldn't even get in it!! They are much smaller than an Indy.

the Tiger Avon has got a problem with legroom, certainly more than most other cars of this type. I'm 6'3" but have a "long
body" so I JUST fit into an Avon but it is a squeeze. I have to fit a 10" steering wheel or I cannnot physcally fit
I would say that you want to go for one of the others (also floor mounted pedals apparently give some extra space)
Personally the Viento would seem to be an excellent option, ignore the 'fat person' thing and think of the V8 you could fit under the
bonnet

mmmm v8
apart from the "fat person" point of view, arms not overhanging the sides of the car is an advantage, also if you ever decide to take
someone in the passenger seat, you dont have to be on intimate terms with them. but as said you can tailor the build to your own preferences

I 'm 6'4" and have made the pedals far forward so I can fit. Bar going on a diet though the width could be an issue. I sat in
Batmans MK and they are indeed more spacious. The quality of the GRP is undoubtedly better. I would recommend that youy go for the MK. From my
dealings with MK for bits they are, in the imortal words of J Oliver, Pukker
I fit the Tiger as a bicycle frame has more fat on it than me.

Try an MNR VortX. The new one is wider in the body by 50 or 60mm and is narrower in the tunnel than a standard excort axled locost and so is quite a
bit more spacious, not only in the seat but also in the foot well.
As for steering wheel height, you can set that at whatever you want in most sevens.

cheers for the replys
well it seems then iwas right the indy did feel alright i was just shocked when i couldnt operate the avon!
not sure about mnr, ive done some research on the mk's though and they are bout an hour and half max away and im liking there duluxe kit for
2500 the 2 things stopping me now are
1. will i fit - snoppy was kind enough to offer me a blast one saterday if i dropped by, so at least i can see if i can comfotably drive it!!!
if that turns out all thumbs up
2. the cost lol im by no means a minted man so im limited by funds like a lot but i will have a certain amount each month set asside for the kit, but
ive heard storys and how do you know that when the company says you can get it all the parts for £4500 that your not gunna get to that point then find
you need a full set of lights lockable fuel caps etc that wernt listed or mentioned in any guides
obvisouly theres gunna be cost on top for renewing, painting, metal, equipment
i just dont wanna go into it thinking it will be ruffly 5k to complete a mk indy and end up at 7k making a loss when i sell it....
so i put this to you guys with the mk indys say i do decide to go this route, in your opionions, those starting, currently building and those who have
finished how much do you think youve spent ? / think your going to spend compared to what you thought it would cost ??
and at the end of the day how much do you think you will get back??
£2500 + £2000 for extra parts not in kit + 200 quid doner escort and pinto lump 2.0
mk indy estimated cost £4700

Pop over to Peterborough, and have a sit in the Luego Viento.
BAGs of room and will fit almost any V8, or the Straight BMW engines, its a huge Bay, and still Sierra based.
Ring Grant and get him to make Matt take you for a drive around the parkway and the roundabouts in the demo car
Should be a link to their website somewhere here, as they sponsor ththis website / forum. Luego

I can't see why £5K is not enough to build an MK. If you get a good donor Sierra then there are no reasons why the engine and gearbox cannot
just be cleaned and painted and put straight in. If the brakes work fine then the same for them...The difference between a well finished car and a
scruffy car is the time and attention you pay to the build, and your time is free.
If you make a good job of the build I don't see why you can't get back most of your money if you sell.
