Seats price (Cobra Roadster 7)

Chaps,

Just a quickie.

Anybody who bought these seats - what did you pay for them.

Just want to know if I paid too much/little(!?!), about the same.

Chaps,

The reason I bought it up, was the wild variations in price I'd seen.

The first place quoted me just over £400. Yeah, don't think so.

Merlin (in their catalogue) quote £127.60 (seem a bargain!) (vinyl with piping) plus £22.95 for harness holes; being £150.55 PLUS VAT £176.90 plus carriage (£15?!?!).

Cobra quoted me £189 each.

I got mine from Halfords for £159.

I thought that was reasonable.

I appreciate people might have got them cheaper at shows, but add on ticket cost, fuel, time etc, I don't reckon I did too bad!!

Unless, of course, Alan is being serious:-)

Cheers Chaps

Halfords has, in some branches, a Ripspeed dept, which sells amongst lots of other things, Cobra and Corbeau seats.

Roadster 7 not one of their stock Cobra, but they can get them in for you. Took 5 days

Graham,

The width of the seats according to Cobra's web site is 445mm.

The (seat) hole in my car is 465mm

They rub the sides of car.

Figure that out.

I have Cobra Roadster 7 seats and they comfortablly fit a standard 'book' chassis. I think you will find they are 400mm wide.

Eric,

Cobra's website:

http://www.cobraseats.com/item.asp?pg=SP&id=ROAD

Like I said in my earlier post, the seats (which I have, and have fitted) touch the sides of car which is 465mm wide (internally per side).

Also, there is a 5cm difference between the two seats on the side supports (which I'll bring up with them sometime!)

I think I paid somewhere over £300 with harness holes (including VAT and delivery etc) from Europa. Seems I could possibly have got them a bit cheaper. I wanted black with black piping (cos I dont know what colour my car is gonna be yet) and I just got black with no piping! He he.

I've just measured them, and in their current sitting on the floor nice and settled state, they are as much as 490mm wide at the widest point (the arse/thigh side supports on the base).

But these are just squishy cussions and they easily fit into a book chassis (which I believe is the same width as an Avon chassis) with negligable squish. I was on the phone to Cobra themselves about these seats and they told me there isn't a Seven kit they dont fit. They fit Caterhams and pre-lit Westfields which are both even narrower than a book Locost. It would be a snug squish to get them in one of those.

I dont know where the 400mm quote came from, but that would be a hell of a squish - if you have a reasonable arse/thighs you would feel the deformation as compared to a non-squished seat (but that may just feel like more support). They WILL squish to as little as 400mm wide though at the base if you really wanted. That would make the widest part the 'rib' supports, and these bits are NOT very squishy at all.

Liam
