Looking for first locost
I'm considering buying a kit-car and wondered if anyone had any advice.
Planning to use it as my only car, although will probably only do 7000miles-ish a year. Have an absolute maximum budget of £3000, and ideally looking
for a fully built car.
Is there anything I should particularly look for or, more importantly, to avoid? Does anyone know of any cars for sale at the moment within my
budget?
Thanks
Sam

You can build one for £250 apparently
tbh i think you would be lucky to get a fully built/SVA'd car for that but have a look round ebay and keep you eye on the for sale section.

Cadge a go in one first - even just as a passenger. Make it a journey of maybe ten or twenty miles. Then see if you still want one as an only car.
P.S. Yes, you'll get something for 3 grand.

That sounds like it would probably be sensible (not sure if getting a kit-car is ever sensible though, is it?). Is there anyone on here who's
based around the Bath area that might be able to oblige? please?!!

Hi Sam get yourself down to the Exeter kit car show this will open your eyes to whats avalible.
It is possible to build for three grand just dont get drawn in to all the pricey stuff and keep it basic to start with.
Mine was just under two grand but I have spent more since.
I should be at the show if you want a ride but i am sure there be others near you who will be on soon!
Best of luck
Barie
the cars looking good" a blind man would be pleased to see it"

Try http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=31704
or if the link doesn't work, it's a post in the FOR SALE section called "Let's try one last time".
Nice looking car, may be of some interest to you.

I'd already noticed that car for sale actually and, as someone has already mentioned, found that it's already gone.
I've heard lots of bad things about robin hood cars, but they seem to be the main thing within my price range. Are they really that bad?!
(I'm expecting the answer to be yes)
