1" RHS 16ga ERW
Am I going totally mad?
I'm getting a bit itchy and want to build something so yesterday I was going to order some 1" square 16gauge to just "play"
make up a chassis.
Had a lookon http://www.shop4steel.com and couldn't see any. So sent them an email asking them if they could supply it and what the price was. I
actually asked for 25x25x1.6mm RHS ERW.
Got a voicemail back today saying yes they do it, 1" x 1" x 16 gauge just place the order on the website.
I've looked again tonight and I just can't see it, is it just me, or is it not actually on there?
Their prices seem better than parkers and only £30 delivery to me, so I'd prefer to order from them if possible.
If you can find it on their website please let me know where!

why dont you just call a local steel stockholder?
You might get what you want at a better price and smaller delivery charge. You could even cut it in half and stick it in your car and save 30 quid.
Just take a hacksaw.

Pricewise these guys seem very good.
I actually just wanted some 30mm equal angle to make up a frame for storing stuff in the garage, but figured I'd get some chassis material too
just to keep myself busy for a while and get some welding done.
As a price comparison.
30mm equal angle, 3mm, 6.1M length:
Parkers £9.52 ea
Shop4Steel £4.85 ea.
I can't see a local place being cheap enough to offset carriage, when I'll be getting enough for a chassis + a load of EA too.
I'll have to call s4s tomorrow and work out who's mad.

if you are paying 30 quid for shipping, visiting somewhere local and cutting into manageable lengths and transporting it yourself might still be
cheaper. I dont think any lenght on a locost is much more than 1/4 of a strip long, or even approaching it.
a phone call is cheap
