New MK Indy Owner
I went to Stoneleigh yesterday, met up with a few of the lads and ordered a MK Indy kit.
So I've finally taken the plunge after 3 years of "weighing up" all the pro's and con's. You have been warned I reckon I'll hit the 200 email
milestone in no time flat with how do I ......? posts.
Now, if only I could remember where I put that Sierra.

Well I went to Stoneleigh and came away more confused than ever. I've now decided to build my own chassis and keep with the simpler live axle. So
within 24hrs I'm the owner of the rustiest Cortina I've ever seen, but for £30 and an original 46k miles it seems a bargain.
And against all opinions (except Jon, and he's a happy man) I'm sticking with the bike engine plan. I'm not even bothering to wait for car building
nightschool in the Autumn as it may never happen, so I'm off to by a v. cheap mig and gene on Thursday.
It was great to see all the cars on Sunday, and thanks for all the inspiration, it's really got me into action.

he is a very happy man.......went to check out my mates banger racin sunday afternoon, poser there with a suber..who ? telling me his car would eat
mine.... my reply ?
"yours had better be quicker than the one i spat out last night then"
Each to his own, but i have yet to find the down side to a bike engine in one of these lightweight ninble chassis.

When enquiring about buying one myself both of my welding instructors told me to buy the most expensive I could afford and I think they're probably
correct.
If you buy a decent one it'll last you years, you'll get decent power out of it and also you'll get one with a higher duty cycle that you can use
for a longer period. Plus, I'm sure, plenty of benefits that the people here who've done more welding than me (not too hard) will be able to tell
you about.
I'd buy second hand if I was you and get more for your money!

I second that. I traded my SIP 130 for a Sealey 185, about 3 times the size, bought from my local welding supplies specialist. Much easier to get a
decent weld!. The books agree on this point too, bigger machines do light welding better than smaller ones.
