Rivnuts

Where can I buy them? No luck on Screwfix.com or my local place (www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk). Do they have another name or have I just imagined them?

Rivnut is a common name, another manufacturer, exactly the same, is Avdel..what size are you after?

Chris, Merlin Motorsport sell them for£30+vat the problem with this one is it only goes up to M6,

Or try Car Builder Solutions theres goes up to M8 but costs £62+vat looks better quality though and there in Staplehurst,Kent.

All the best Dan.

Try RS components, they sell from 3mm up to about 12.I used a bolt, wahers and a thrust bearing to set them rather than the proper tool.

Rivnut is the American name for them- they're more commonly sold as nutserts here.
I spent awhile hunting around for them about a year ago- you can get 'em pretty cheap.

If you have to bulk buy to get the price you want tell me and I'll buy some off you.

Cheers,

James

Was going to use them to hold down little things like the brake line T pieces. What do you suggest instead? Seems silly to drill right through the tube.

I got mine, a good quality German one, from a motorsport company at Silverstone, may even have been Merlin. Excellent piece of kit, used it loads, with m6 steel ribbed rivnuts.

I haven't needed bigger than M6.
