Anyone owned a corsa?

NE1 out there owned or own a Corsa? If so, whats the redline?!? I've been googling but can't find it! I'm trying how fast the alternators like to whizz round. I've found the diameter of a Corsa crank pulley and I've got the alternator, just need to know what the redline is / was on these cars- I think it's probably about 6000... Not sure it would like being overdriver by 8000/6000.....

assuming 6000 is close enough for your calculations. Id aim to spin it slower since you will be reving more. The output should be unchanged, and you need less power in a kitcar anyway. Plus you will save a fraction of a BHP spinning it slower!

Thanks!

Good points re the expected usual RPM range for the bike engine being higher than the car- hadn't though of that!!!
So if redlines @ 6500 (cheers!) and my ST1100 redlines at 8500 as standard (STM have used different bike ECUs to take it higher), I reckon I could get away with a crank pulley that's a bit larger than normal to spin it up slower..

I reckon a Corsa will spend most of its life between 3-4krpm. So far my ST1100 has spent most of its running life @ 5-6krpm. So I'll find out what RPM the alternator is doing in the Corsa with a standard crank pulley doing 3.5kRPM and work out what size I need on the ST1100 doing 5.5kRPM...

Bargain!

You were talking of running it off of the prop output weren't you? If so the revs will only be about what you were getting from a car crank pulley.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I may have implied that in my rantings but nope- I'm running it direct of a pulley on the end of the crank
The only worry is I'm bolting the pulleys on top of an extension piece which sits on top of the main crank pulley for the camshaft pulleys- not sure how resilient in compression that crank pulley is going to be.....

The pulley will be smaller than the crank pulley, so will spin faster than the engine. Use a bigger pulley and you wont have a problem.

Edit: Just seen you already said you were going to do that!
