something for the weekend sir?

... well I was hoping that something would be my registration and road fund license (raod tax).

went oin person to DVAL with all the documents receitps etc. that they took a few bitrs of, then went to inspection where the chassis number was checked and provided another receipt for the wings and exaplined chassi built from by welding bits of steel tube and was told the registration/tax would be received by end of this week.

anyways, on Tues get getter from DVLA to provice proof the chassis was built and receipts for the chassis?!?!?!??!?!

WHY DIDN'T THEY ASK FOR THAT WHEN I WAS IN TEH OFFICE?!?!?!?!?!

Anyway, sent of some receipts for steel tube and weldign fas plus a few pages from the build plans showing the main part of the chassis (can't see what pusrpose it would have seding the whole manual).

Now just waiting for the next hoop the DVAL will want me to jump through.......

there still is a remote possiblility I may be on the road by the w/end but so far the mysterious workgins of the DVLA indicate not.

It's just typical of the DVLA and VOSA. They took several weeks to sort out my plates, including numerous phonecalls and 3 visits to the DVLA office. Luckily the DVLA office was on my way home from work.

You just have to accept that they don't know what they're doing and will work slowly. You will get your plates and you'll be on the road when the weather turns nice.

After sva, the local vosa office in wimbledon sent out someone within a week to check my car. A few days later I rang them and they too wanted chassis reciepts. I took the reciept in and got my Reg and Tax in just half an hour.
I have found that getting names and turning up in person sorts out these situations.
Otherwise, with hundreds of forms to deal with everyday, you are just a number on a list.
Go down to your Vosa office today with your reciepts and I am pretty sure that they can issue you your docs. (that is if it is local to you).
It will be quicker this way.
I am not defending them, but they do not just deal with two kits a week, they deal with hundreds of vechiles.

Where abouts in SW Herts are you? what DVLA office are you dealing with?

My reg will hopefully happen later in the year and will probably have to use the same office as you....

For my first build i was in the catchment area of Reading VRO who were great, they even came to my home to view the car and see the recipts....

Just got back from my DVLA inspection, which lasts all of 10 mins - what a performance they make about it though

The guy dealing with it advised that I should get my tax and rego by the end of next week - so I'm expecting to be roadworthy for next weekend.

Time will tell I guess!

Hope you get sorted quickly and get it out on the road

Dow I don’t have any receipts for the steel that made the home made chasse as I bought the car as a rolling chasse off ebay (then pulled it apart and modified it) is this going to case me a problem? I should have the print off of the ebay sale in the car folder I hope!

Yeh- but the blokes who do the inspection know jack shit. The bloke who did mine decided he couldn't be bothered to look at the engine number (cos it was under the car [on ramps] and the floor was cold and a bit dirty) then decided that because its got a bike engine in it I'd be paying motorbike road tax duty...... But then he also said that despite being the biggest mismash of old bits and pieces and me not having any invoices that it would get age-related, and also that he'd fax off the report immediately and three weeks later they still didn't have it....... (or that's what they said)...
Eventually I persuaded them that they really didn't know what they were doing and that if they took my money and gave me a Q plate registration I'd go away, stop bothering them and not take the official complaint any further (and not go for compensation through their complaints procedure).
Best to find out who's dealing with your registration (for some reason you have to ring DVLA Swansea for this) and get on their case.
Which VOSA place is that? It depends from place to place- some are actually quite sensible...

SVA on the 3rd of January
VOSA inspection on the 9th of January
Tax and docs through the door on the 12th of January.

Fee paid to Paul Jepson to sort the SVA and registration - priceless. (£35 btw)

I had a nice young lady inspect mine at Brighton DVLA (ooer missus). Gave them a huge pile of receipts and walked away with a reg doc.

TKC guide was excellent and made it straight forward see link here

Might be worth paying for a stamp as when my tax was posted she didn't frank the envelope and I had to wait a week to get a card from the post office to say they had a letter for me. By the time I managed to get to P.O. it was an hour before I was due to go on holiday for 2 weeks , was not happy!
