zetec problem (HELP)

When i give my zetec a good thrashing for quit a while the cam followers start tapping, then if i drive normal for a while they settle down again. have changed them once and still the same, what could it be its driving me NUTS.

Do zetecs have specaial oil ? if so are you using the right oil? it,s just what i read some were

Should be using 5/30 oil , could also be down to low oil pressure ? sticking oil pressure relief valve , blocked pick up, worn oil pump, worn engine?. May be down to cheap oil? . Do an oil pressure test using a decent oil pressure gauge.

zetec noise

Thanks to everybody for your help, just had sump of and found that oil pick up was partly blocked with gasket glue have cleaned it out so should be ok now.

i use an engine flush by forte when servicing zetecs and it does a good job ,most garages will sell you a bottle

Yup 5w/30 is essential --- don't use anything else even 0w/40 causes hydraulic tappet problems on the Zetec.
