New car tax rates
Link on the autotrader website to the new car tax rates seems to show the classic car exemption being extended by a year - cars registered before
1/1/74 are exempt. This is not an official site though.

Yeah.. Its probably a typo. Right day, wrong year.

It's because the middle-aged idiot civil servants who decide what happens in our country don't like the idea of time moving onwards and
prefer to think that it stopped on the 1st of the 1st 1975 (rather like the Daily Express appears to think that Princess Diana died yesterday and its
headline news every other flipping day, I suppose its something to put on the front page when they haven't got any story about immigration they
can rant rabidly about!!!)....

It wasnt the civil servants.... The Tory Gov't made it a rolling 25 years.
Labour Won the next election and changed to to 31 Dec 1972 as a fixed date.
THEY are the robbin B'Stards.
They have stealth taxed us to death, and robbed our pension funds as well.
DONT get me started on this!
