are you building fromscratch as per book, or are you using a built chasiss / kit / patial kit?
Dont include buying stuff like grp - you would be nuts not to!

I made my own GRP and aluminium nose cone, but then I am nuts.
The only thing I didn't make on my car (apart from the bits Ford ect gave me)was the roll bar as I didn't have the facillities.
It's nice to say "I made that", but picking it all up in a van is MUCH quicker!

Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

Book chassis made by brother.
Wish i,d bought luego chassis it would be finished by now and wouldn,t have cost much more.
But it has been a great learning experience.
Its like sex,its more fun getting there than when you arrive.

have come close to scraping it due to suspension problems
irs is a bastard to get anywhere near right

I did my front and rear suspension twice before I got it the way I wanted it.
std is good
mods are bad!

I have gone for the professional approach some one else has spent a good deal of money on a design (chassis) great!! and it cut costs in he long run
(driveshafts etc) then mix it with knowledge and experience and unlimited time and a good deal of good ideas and a lot of insperation and you end up
with the dream car we have all been looking for...

Did mine plus 4" to the book(Cortina axle).Did my own bulkhead.Bought the wings after that...But did modify them.Did pretty much every thing on
mine.Wasn't allowed to spend that much/tight northernised Southenern & it is nice to keep saying"Yep.Did that as well
..Which was nice..

Made/making everything from scratch except fibreglass bits.
It may take longer but it's so satisfying and so much cheaper. Chassis (£80), pedal box (nowt), engine mounts (nowt), wishbones/arms/panhard
(£50) etc. etc.
Check the prices to buy.
It all adds up.

Did everything my self except;
Dax dedion tube (but fabricated my own mounts to suit chassis, instead of the original 'A' arm mounting)
Fibreglass, but all of it was modified to fit, even the front arches.

Do I detect a certain element of 'pride' here amongst the 'I made it from scratch'
brigade.

Book aproach, Mcsorely plans, Dedion -Home made, 2.8 V6 - seen better days.
LOCOST through and through. Very slow, dificult at times but how chuffed with myself will I be when it hits the road? - right chuffed - thats how
chuffed!!

Incidently - Won't this Poll be skewed in favour of those building thier own LOCOST-style as many of those who have bought chassis etc will be
too humbled in our presence to admit it!

Bought IRS chassis from Stuart Taylor, plus pedal box, wishbones and GRP.
Have made all ally panelling from scratch (including full-length sides), fabricated new plenum from scratch, made bits for cooling system, sewed a
vinyl boot cover, made dashboard and complete wiring loom, converted a Saab concentric clutch slave to work the Toyota clutch, modded the sump with
baffles and box around the pickup pipe.
I've cleaned and re-conditioned a huge pile of bits from scrapped Corolla, Cortina, Escort, Sierra and Scorpio. Scoured scrappys for suitable
bits including brake reservoir, radiator header tank, heater, fuel pump and so on.
There's still plenty you can do to make a car into your own personal interpretation of the Se7en theme, even if you do buy a chassis.

Built Made
Bought old book Locost chassis & new wider Luego V8 wishbones which fit.
Started with a pinto but some git gave me a lancia turbo and I have been stuffing it and all the bits into a tiny engine bay ever since.
So far the only thing I have not made or modded is the scuttle. All the rest I have made changed or had made (prop shaft).
It is satisfying to say I did that but I wish it would stop now as I want to drive the B*****D.

Bought Luego Velocity chassis, wishbones, with the Luego locost bodywork.
Now finding it a nightmare to fit the very non-standard engine I have!! Would've been much easier if I'd made my own chassis (except the
fact I cant weld)
Making my own life very difficult by not wanting to spoil the lovely powder coat and chop the chassis about (which I have had to do a couple of times
now ).
