Lidl the supermarket chain have several motorbike related items for sale, including full waterproof suit, Bike to bike intercoms, helmets, body suits etc. well worth a look and pretty cheap too.

these look handy for building a car on - at least to get towards rolling chassis stage!! I have some similar but were shed loads dearer than that. Pipe lagging across the top and away you go!!

I bought one of the Jet open face helmets for driving to work ( I use a full face for track days). Can't complain about the quality for £22.95! Could sit a little lower on my head to be perfect as my chin is just exposed.
