bike fuel pump

Hi all,

I bought a fuel pump off a GSXR 600 SRAD to go with my carbs, but the fuel pump has two outlets on it.

Does anyone know why theres 2 and which ones for what?

This is what my pump looks like and you can see an 8mm outlet and a 6mm outlet below it.

Thanks

Mikkel

The carbed GSXR600 didn't have a fuel pump!

Actually I don't think any carbed suzukis had fuel pumps (taking cover as I say this). So the only suzuki fuel pumps will be high pressure ones, and 45psi into your carbs isn't going to be very good.

www.alphasports.com is my source of information.

Do you have a part number (normally on a sticker on the underside of the unit), you can google suzuki part numbers and all becomes clear.

that was the fear...

So a new fuel pump then?

Would the fuel pump off any other carbed 600 be about right?

just been looking at www.alphasports.com and it looks like the SRAD's did have a fuel pump... there are no diagrams for it, but if you look at the tank diagram on the 97-00 models there is a fuel pump gasket that looks identical to mine.

Is there anyway of testing my pump, like submersing it in water and running it?

Is it possible that the smaller outlet is a breather?

this is the correct fuel pump for a GSX R600 Carbed version and they do run a fuel pump. the extra connection is a vacuum feed which comes off one cylinder to open and close the pump when the engine is running. This prevents flooding when the engine is switched off. please read my reply on your later post.
