Yup. I drive past the polling station on the way to work. There's no excuse not to really.
I voted for the party I vote for if there are no good candidates in my area. I don't really want any wierdo candidates getting in, even thought
its "only" europe.
The thing that annoys me about the Euro elections is that they are by party list, the most undemocratic of the PR voting systems. The name at the top
of the Labour and Tory lists is guaranteed to get in, regardless of what the majority of the voters think. similarly, the name at the bottom of the
list has absolutely no chance, regardless of the voters. It is a system where the part chooses thier MEPs not the people.

I'm of the thinking that whoever gets in, we'll all still be ignored and be told what to do by people who are massively bent and take
massive backhanders so I don't waste my time.

it is all postal voting where we are so, i voted 3 days ago. think you must vote if you want to express an opinion in the future on the elected.
Frustratingly the SWMBO spoiled her paper to make a stand and to show her disapproval with the candidates.

Why is that frustrating? Your lady friend has expressed her distaste for the shite system we have... and I agree with her!

If any particular candidate would care to make an effort to explain to me personally what it is they are offering and why I should vote for their
party, then maybe I would have voted for them.
They couldn't be bothered, so neither could I.
The next shower will be just as bad as this one but I'm not complaining........

I would say that it is a fundamental responsibility to assert one's vote, not a right.

Not these elections, these are for local govt (where the big decisions include how often to take the bins)
And European, where they all head off to Belgium or Luxenbourg and pretend they're running the continent.
Your also wrong about the main elections, as there's no real debate about substantive issues any more. They all blather on about
semicolons's and petty issues and then vote how they're told by their party executive (PM + cabinet or opposition shadow equivalents).
They occasionally get a free vote on unimportant nonsense though, to let them pretend they are running the country.

Nah, knock down Marble Arch and put Tyburn gallows back where they belong!
I voted, after all a lot of people fought for the right to vote. Not doing so is a disservice to them. It is, of course, also a shame that there is a
"none of the above" box!

also those that don't vote shouldn't complain for the next 4 or so years. You had your chance to make a difference, you didn't take
it so tough.

Yes but as this is my country and the fact that I pay for it's upkeep and to house its MP's, I have shares, if you like and therefore can
moan all I want. If I was to vote then it wouldn't be a true reflection of what I believe because it would be a case of picking the best of the
worst because I don't think there's a good one amongst them so I've exercised my right to refrain and voiced my true opinion. They
should have an option to vote that says "no confidence" and then they'd have monster numbers I reckon.
